Energy Crisis
The Energy Crisis Program is available for eligible seniors, homebound, or households with life-threatening issues during November each year and the general public (beginning in December until the program ends) to assist those who have received a service disconnection or disconnection notice.
Households are considered to be facing an energy crisis due to the lack or the threat of loss of heating services in their homes.
Eligible households will receive assistance to prevent their service from being interrupted or to restore service to the home. In addition to federal funds, the Georgia Public Service Commission is making some funds available for senior and general-public households in crisis who use natural gas supplied by natural-gas marketers on the AGLR pipeline. Check the PSC website for details. The H.E.A.T., Inc. organization is also making additional funds available for households in crisis.
