Special Investigations Unit (SIU)
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is the DFCS unit that investigates all child deaths and serious injuries. A staff of 29 specially trained investigators is spread thoughout the state to respond within hours to any serious event involving a child. They work in concert with local DFCS staff, the GBI, and others handling the case.
